FAQs

What do you do?

1

Dailytypist exists for those who believe what I do - that words matter. Writing with intention because words must be shared, not held. I write daily - on a typewriter - for brands and people who value meaning, clarity and the power of words.

Using only a typewriter because our words demand attention. Every word counts and comes at a cost - to each of us. There is no delete or spell check with a typewriter, so every word is crafted with commitment, discipline, focus and purpose.

So, tell me what needs to be said and I’ll expose it on the page.

It can be a poem. A letter. Or anything you can think of. Other services offered are private and corporate events. Additionally, Copy Typing - which the act of retyping something you want to preserve or make a physical copy from a digital one.

FAQs

Do you work alone or are their other typist?

5

I don’t work alone - I work with all the people I meet on the street or at private/corporate events. Without your feelings, questions, thoughts or dreams, I’d have nothing to write.

I am a solo typist, for now.

How many poems can you write?

6

The events I work are open to the person standing in front of me. In one moment I’m writing a poem. The next person sits down with me and I’m writing a letter to a loved one, or to themselves. The switch from poetry to a letter and back to poetry is not an easy one. I can do about 10 poems per hour in an event. Using a typewriter means that the words I use matter. There are no templates. There is no spell check or delete button. So I take my time, the way writing is intended. While I take my time to maximize impact of the words used, I also engage the person in front of me. Because we aren’t strangers - we just haven’t shared words, yet.

What kind of typewriter do you use?

7

I have two with me on the street and in events - a 1924 Underwood Portable and a 1960’s Facit, which features a cursive print (typeface). Likely, a third will be in the car just in case, my 1945 Smith Corona Clipper.

While I use a machine to write, I am not a machine. Words are chosen carefully because if you believe what I believe, words matter.
